A HeatCheck Surveyor arrives early morning, typically around 7am, when the temperature difference between inside and outside is at its greatest. We take a guided tour, seal all ventilation openings, install a blower door to pressurise the building, then scan every wall, floor, ceiling, window and door with a professional FLIR thermal camera. The whole process takes 3 to 5 hours. You receive a full digital report with thermal images, findings and prioritised recommendations, all same day.
Thermal imaging requires at least a 10°C temperature difference between inside and outside. In Ireland, October through April is ideal. Winter months give the most dramatic and accurate results. We won’t carry out a survey if outdoor temperatures are too high as results would be inconclusive.

To get the best results from your survey, please follow these simple steps the night before and on the morning of your appointment:
The night before: Ensure your heating has been running as normal. Do not light any open fires or solid fuel stoves the night before or on the morning of the survey, as this creates localised heat that can interfere with thermal readings.
On the morning: Boost your heating or turn it on early to maximise the temperature differential between inside and outside. The greater the difference, the more detail we can capture. Make a note of any rooms that feel particularly cold or draughty.
We handle all the temporary sealing of vents ourselves, so there is nothing else you need to do. You can stay home and carry on with your morning as normal.
